What would the holidays be without small kitchen appliances? I mean, seriously? Some people think they’re not very personal, but I use mine more this time of year than all the rest of the year! And frankly, anything that makes my life easier is personal to me! So I want to share my picks of 10 must-have small kitchen appliances.

One small kitchen appliance that should be used at least on a weekly basis is the slow-cooker. It is incredibly efficient at cooking dinner while I’m doing something else! I love this one for a several reasons: 1.) It is made by Crock Pot, the original inventors of the slow cooker, 2.) It has the awesome sealing hinges at the lid, which means the contents won’t spill when it’s transported, and 3.) It’s programmable!

Another small appliance that I couldn’t live without is my Kitchen Aid stand mixer. It was years before I could afford one, and I deeply regret not saving up for it earlier than I did! You can truly tell a difference in the texture of a cake made with this mixer and one made without it. I also love it for making perfect whipped cream. And many other reasons!!

But, it didn’t replace my trusty hand mixer, which I use for smaller jobs when I want to just get it done quickly (like a meringue on a banana pudding!).

I got my Cuisinart food processor in 2009, and it is amazing! I love how it will dice celery for my dressing and shred carrots for my carrot cake and much more! It cuts my prep time considerably (I’m not a fast ‘chopper’)!

And when I just have something small, like nuts or craisins, to chop, I do love my mini!

One small appliance I don’t have is the new, modern pressure cooker. The kind I have is the old-fashioned kind with the seal and the ‘jiggler’. I’ve used that kind many, many times… and had to buy new seals for it, but to be honest, they’ve always kind of scared me. I never had the experience of the old-fashioned pressure cooker exploding, but heard many stories of that happening! So I am very interested in one like this and have put this one on my list!

I do have this next one. When I am on my smoothie kicks, there is nothing like it! I can add frozen fruit, kale, spinach or whatever I’m in the mood for, and this baby will whip up the yummiest concoction in no time. And it’s surprisingly easy to clean.

Here’s another one I don’t have but think I would really use. Lots of times I will make something that will need to be pureed, and this would make that so easy!

My kids actually got me this waffle maker a couple of years ago. And I do love it! Since I am gluten-free, the only time I get to indulge in a waffle is either to buy frozen or make my own… and I much prefer my own! I am craving one right now!

And what kitchen is complete without an awesome coffee maker? What I love about this one is that it makes either a full pot or a single serving! I love anything that is dual-purpose. And I’m not into the K-cup single brewer, mostly because those K-cups are so darn expensive!
