Hey there!
We’re in the middle of a major redo of our master bedroom, and I’m looking for the perfect gray for the walls. Have you seen all the choices out there for grays? Wow!
Gray, or grey… whichever spelling… this color is THE hot color right now! And, as a designer, I can remember absolutely hating gray! I used to feel that gray was the ‘lukewarm’ of the color world – pretty much the absence of color.
*Disclosure: I will receive paint from Sherwin-Williams as compensation for my post. All views and opinions expressed in the article are – as always – my own, and no other compensation was provided.*
This is proof positive that tastes change… and that’s OK. Because now I love gray! I still like to warm it up some by mixing in a little taupe or brown, but I find it to be a very relaxing, calming color.
So. Before you email me wondering what in the world this post is about, let me assure you it has nothing to do with the book or the upcoming 50 Shades of Gray (Grey) movie! If you’re curious about my thoughts on them, I’ll share the link to a post that sums up my feelings about it at the end.
It’s almost overwhelming – there are cool grays and warm grays; blue-grays and yellow-grays; metallic grays and greiges… the choices are endless!
One of my favorite brands of paint is Sherwin Williams, and they will be sponsoring the painting part my room renovation. Here’s a look at some of the best gray paint colors out there:
These are the grays I chose to sample on my wall:
Each one has its charm. I love the ‘gray-ness’ of Mindful Gray. It is rich and pure. And Repose Gray is a grayed-down white, very bright and cheerful. Amazing Gray has long been one of my favorites for decorating jobs, with its bit of brown. And Worldly Gray is a cross between gray and beige… almost a greige… but still more gray than beige.
So now for my dilemma – which gray to choose?? Here’s one part of the makeover that is done: the stenciled drop cloth curtains.
Let’s try something different! Let’s have a giveaway! You help me choose a gray paint color, and I’ll give one winner a $25 Starbucks gift card! Enter by following the prompts in the rafflecopter widget below, and I will choose a winner and reveal the color that receives the most votes!
Good luck, and I can’t wait to see which color wins!!
