Coastal Vibe Summer Mantel
Happy Summer, Y’all!
Yep, yesterday was the ‘official’ first day of summer, although we’ve had some pretty high temps around here for the last few weeks.
And I’m ready, aren’t you? Ready for steaks on the grill, lazy evenings by the pool, trips to the beach… everything that summer means. And since we don’t currently have a beach trip planned, I decided to bring a little bit of the coast into my home and onto the mantel!
Now, I’ve never been really big into beach-y decor in my own home. As a fairly ‘by-the-book’ interior designer, I’ve always felt that one’s decor style should at least harmonize with one’s locale and the architecture of one’s habitat.
I digress. Anyway, since I don’t actually live by the coast, I feared that to decorate as though I did would be somewhat inauthentic. But guess what? I decided that maybe I could bend the rules just once! While I stopped short of using sea shells, I did venture into coral, sea glass and rope! *wink-wink*!!
The centerpiece of this summer’s mantel is my Coastal Sunburst Mirror, which I am happy to say will be shared at Kenarry: Ideas for the Home this week on Wednesday! Be watching for that (I’ll have a post here that will direct you to the website so you can follow the tutorial for making the mirror)!
The other items on the mantle are things I either already had, or happened to find over the last few weeks on clearance aisles at various stores. The two pieces of coral have been spray painted white.
And you know I love to play, so I had fun with a couple of different arrangements of the things on the mantel!
Which arrangement do you like better? Do you decorate for the summer with ‘beach-y’ items?
Don’t forget to stay tuned for the mirror tutorial coming up Wednesday! See you then!!
P.S. Here’s a pic to pin!!
