Good Morning, Lovelies!
I am so thrilled to be participating in the Homemade Beauty and Household Products Showcase this weekend! Today and tomorrow, a delightful group of blogs are coming together to offer you the best in homemade personal and household products!
Because I have dry, flaky skin this time of year, I really needed to make myself a scrub. One that would gently exfoliate and leave my skin softened and moisturized.
When developing a scrub to share with you today, I also wanted to capture the scent of my kitchen when I’m baking cookies! To me, there’s nothing better than the yummy aroma of brown sugar plus a little vanilla.
But I wanted to temper the brown sugar a bit, so I halved the amount and added white sugar. Knowing how wonderfully moisturizing coconut oil is, I used that as the base. So… here is the formula:
3/4 cup white sugar3/4 cup light brown sugar1/2 cup coconut oil2 tsp.vanillaVitamin E oil
I just whipped this batch up with my electric mixer, since all the ingredients are ‘kitchen friendly’! Much as I would have done if baking cookies, I creamed the coconut oil (which is about the consistency of shortening) with the white sugar. Then I added the vanilla and vitamin E (I just carefully snipped off the ends of a couple of capsules of vitamin E capsules and squeezed the oil into my bowl), and finally the brown sugar.
To use, just scoop out a small amount… about a teaspoon or less, and rub on hands, legs, feet… wherever you need some exfoliating smoothness!!
One thing I really love about this scrub is that it works so well on my dry, cracked heels this time of year!
