Sometimes it’s like Christmas around here.
And once in a while, when that doorbell rings, the Fed Ex guy outdoes himself. Like he did this time.
He hooked me up with a product that’s out-of-this-world awesome. I think I’m in love.
Have you ever come across something that is just a dynamite idea? Such a great concept that you wish you had thought of it??
Remember this post on my stenciled curtains? Well, I really got bit by the stencil bug!
Create a One-of-a-Kind Designer Pillow
I am still working on the master bedroom makeover, and I wanted to bring some pattern into a few throw pillows for the new bedding. I needed a contrast to the more traditional pattern on the curtains, so I was looking for something a bit more modern, a one-of-a-kind designer pillow, and I discovered this wonderful idea!
Paint-A-Pillow is a complete pillow stenciling kit: it comes with the stencil, pillow cover, pillow insert and everything you need to stencil a gorgeous accent pillow! This is the box that arrived at my door: I couldn’t wait to open it and see what was inside!
*A big thank-you to Paint-A-Pillow for providing me with the pillow stencil kit and supplies for this project. All written content expressed in the article is – as always – my own.*
Everything I needed to make a gorgeous pillow was inside: the stencil, one jar of paint, the pillow insert and the pillow cover – plus the tools to make it happen.
They made it sooo easy! They even have an awesome how-to video on their website that shows exactly how to make your pillow:
The video is so much fun to watch that I watched it several times. I’m totally charmed by Janna’s lovely accent! I even set it up on my iPad while I worked:
Here is the final product, against our new bedding:
And you know how I love to move things around… this pillow looks equally at home in a chair in our family room!
I did receive the kit and materials to make this pillow in return for telling you about it, but y’all – this is totally something I would buy on my own! As a designer in the retail high-end furniture biz, I sold many a decorator throw pillow for $150 and up. The kit is about $45, and in addition to the supplies to make one pillow, you get a large stencil that can be used over and over again! And if you want to make multiples from the same stencil, you can buy additional pillow covers and/or inserts. The pillows close with a high-quality invisible zipper, too, so the finished product is very well made!
Go ahead and pin this photo so you can remember the name of the pillow kit!
Paint-A-Pillow is a great way to add designer touches to your home at a great price. Be sure to visit their website to take a look at all the gorgeous designs for these fun and beautiful pillows!
Have a wonderful DIY day!
OMG! This is fabulous! It seems a little pricey for me but I do like that you can re-use the stencil. Question: Does the pillow feel stiff, like you have painted on it? How would you compare the feel of the fabric to un-painted fabric? Thank you!
Hi Laura, thanks for stopping by! The paint that comes with the kit is specially blended for fabric, and doesn’t make the fabric stiff. Also, if you want to use regular water-based paint, you can mix with a substance called fabric (or textile) medium. Hope this helps!!
