Deck the Halls with Boughs of Holly… Fa La La-La-La…
Well, ours isn’t festooned with holly, but it’s pretty decked out!
Because we have two large openings into rooms off the foyer, it seemed rather plain. So I decided to swag greenery above each cased opening. I love how it turned out!It has been such fun hosting gatherings in our home this season! The older I get, the more I treasure being able to spend time with beloved family and friends! And I do love to create a warm and welcoming space.
Below is the foyer of our home (we began our home tour here in this previous post). To the right is the dining room, and to the left is the sitting room. The photo above is looking through the foyer from the dining room into the sitting room.
The next two photos are looking into the dining room from the foyer:
Next is the holiday tablescape built around a couple of reindeer that I found at Cracker Barrel a couple of years ago…
The table setting features a salad plate by Queen’s Myott in the pattern Season’s Greetings. The dinner plate is Italian Countryside by Mikasa and the flatwear is Classic Shell from Oneida (retired). The gorgeous goblets were a gift from my mom and dad the first year we were in our new home! I don’t know what pattern they are.
The reindeer flank a rustic crate filled with greenery. Rising up out of the crate is a mercury glass compote that I filled with gold and silver ornaments. I also scattered these around the table, with more greenery, metallic berry sprigs and faux ‘ice’. Votives in various candleholders add sparkle and a glow to the tablescape. With different china patterns, this design works well through new year’s!
For the buffet, the focus is a mosaic Holy Family nestled in an old leather suitcase. This is also surrounded by various candles and greenery.
I had a little fun with the chandelier! I hung six crystal ornaments from the ‘arms’ and a glittery snowflake from the center!!
I do love this view looking from the buffet though the dining room into the sitting room! Thank you so much for the privilege of inviting you into my home for the holidays!
Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year to each of you! Enjoy this holiday with your family and friends!!
