Whether or not you agree with that statement, chocolate has long been associated with romance! Here’s a quote from the World Cocoa Foundation (who knew there was such an organization!?) 🙂 …
The Latin name for cocoa—Theobroma—literally means, “food of the gods.” In its earliest forms, the Mayans used cocoa to create a ritual beverage that was shared during betrothal and marriage ceremonies, providing one of the first known links between chocolate and romance.
What says LOVE better than an easy & elegant Chocolate Lava Cake?
Better yet, one baked in dollar store ramekins!! Aren’t these little ramekins cute? Yep, found them at the dollar store, just waiting to be filled with yummy molten chocolate cakes!
Easy & Elegant Chocolate Lava Cake
- 5 oz. dark or semi-sweet chocolate
- 6 tbsp butter
- 3 large eggs
- 1/3 c sugar
- 1/3 c flour
Grease bottom and sides of 4 ramekins with butter; dust with cocoa. If you dust with cocoa and then turn out onto a plate, you won’t get the weird whitish color that you do when the pan is dusted with flour. Here’s a photo of the prepared dishes:
In a glass bowl combine butter and chocolate. Microwave for 30 seconds. Stir and microwave in additional 10 second increments, stirring until melted and smooth.
In mixing bowl, whisk eggs. Add sugar and whisk until sugar is dissolved. Whisk in melted chocolate mixture. Add flour until incorporated. Pour evenly into prepared ramekins. Bake at 425 degrees for 8-10 minutes. Tops will be puffed and cracked. Do not overbake. Let sit for 3-5 minutes.
Serve warm in ramekins or turn out onto plates. If you turn onto plate, dust with cocoa or powdered sugar or top with ice cream if you want! Enjoy the ooohs and ahhhs!!
Have a wonderful day!!
