If you’ve seen my fall mantel, you may have noticed the fall banner with book page leaves hanging down from the front. This little banner just almost told me what it wanted to be!
You see, I had the fall leaves already – well, actually, I had EVERYTHING already that I needed to make it! If you want to make a similar one, here’s what you’ll need:
- Some fall leaves (these came from the dollar store a couple of years ago, and I think they’re actually made from crepe paper!)
- twine
- book page leaves
- antique clothespins
I rolled out a long piece of twine, tied it around the heads of the clothespins, and clipped the leaves to the pins!
I had to fatten up the part that slid into the clothespins, but that was easy enough! I had some scrap cardstock that I folded small enough so that it wouldn’t show from behind each leaf.
There are 2 different shapes to the leaves, and I didn’t put a book page leaf on each one, just every other one. I like the variety.
And the cream color of the book pages helps tie everything on the mantel together – the white pumpkins, shutters, tray and the faux deer head!
And of course, the twine works perfectly with the twine pears that are sprinkled in the vignette. Ah, the twine pears – I’ll be in love with those forever. Here’s a look at how the mantel came together:
And here’s something for you to pin, if you’d like. I would appreciate it!!
Have a wonderful day!
