Today, I am building our Thanksgiving Tablescape! The plan is to bring you different elements and then pull it all together for you later this week.
The elements I’m bringing today are the fall napkin rings and some glitzed-up pine cones! The other day, we saw my glammed-up pumpkins {with a touch of gold}.
One of the hottest crafts right now is napkin rings made from paper towel tubes. Well, what I had on hand was an empty gift wrap tube, so I figured it would work just as well. I also had some very pretty 2.5″ wide, wired burlap ribbon (that I found at the dollar store for only $2 a roll!!). My supplies were:
- 1 long gift wrap tube
- 2-1/2″wide wired ribbon
- jute
- autumn embellishments (I used organza fall leaves- again from the dollar store- and wheat berry sprigs cut from a craft-store stem)
- tape measure, marker and scissors
- glue gun
I made markings on the paper tubing at 2-1/4″ intervals, as I wanted the tube cut just short of the width of the ribbon- you don’t want it to peek out from underneath the ribbon. I simply used scissors to cut the rings (don’t worry about creasing the tube to cut, it will round back out when the ribbon is applied). I cut each length of ribbon about 1″ longer than the circumference of the tube. Running a bead of hot glue on one end of the ribbon and then turning under the other (exposed) end, I rolled the ribbon on to the paper. I ran another thin bead of glue on the underside of the turned under edge and affixed.
IMPORTANT: Always use caution when using a hot glue gun! Use tools such as tweezers, pliers etc. to avoid burns from contact with hot glue.
After you have your ribbon on the ring, you can place your embellishments on in any manner you wish! I used 3 leaves and the small sprig of gold berries. Putting a small dot of glue on the underside of the napkin ring, I wrapped jute around the tube 3 times and then also glued the other loose end to the back.
VoilĂ !! You have a rustic glam fall napkin ring for your Thanksgiving table! This project cost literally pennies to make. The only thing I bought special to make them was the $2 ribbon, and I only used part of the roll.
While I was at it, I added some glitz to the pinecones I plan to use. I simply dry-brushed some of my trusty gold metallic acrylic paint to the tips and now they are ready to be added to the table!
And there you have 2 more elements to my Thanksgiving Tablescape! Stay tuned for the finished product this week!!
How are you decorating your table for Thanksgiving?
Have a wonderful day! And stay warm!!

Love these!
I masa a very simple version of these last year and they were a big hit. I love seeing all the interpretations of them. Yours are quite lovely.
Thanks for visiting, Lulu! The paper tubing napkin rings are fun, aren’t they? So much can be done with them!! Hope you’ll come back again!
Very pretty! I have some guests coming over for Thanksgiving, and I don’t have any napkin rings, so I will have to try this project!
Oh, I hope you will! It literally just took minutes!! And, how’s this for irony? I had just visited your blog and read about your Thanksgiving banner before I saw your comment here!! (after seeing on Blogger’s FB conn) Hope you’ll visit again…
These are so pretty! I love the colors you used!
Thank you, Beverly! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!
Really lovely, thanks so much for sharing on craft schooling Sunday!
What a delightful idea. I don’t think we have many pine cones in my particular neck of the woods in West Roseville, CA but perhaps in the older part of town with more of the mature landscaping. I’ll have to take a walk at one of our lovely parks over there, get some exercise, and perhaps discover some. Thank you for a fun idea. 🙂
