Happy fall, y’all!
It’s official… and I’m sooo ready for it! I hope the shadows are changing and the foliage has color wherever you are!
I love everything about fall: the pumpkins, the leaves, football games, the weather. It puts me in a more creative mood, too! And that’s a good thing, because it’s time for the monthly DIY Days Blog Hop with Lowe’s and Hometalk! As I was perusing (have you noticed I like to use that word?) the aisles at Lowe’s, I saw this 16 x 16″ square of tile that had awesome texture – like a painter’s canvas – in the prettiest shade of gray!
It is sold only by the carton, but in speaking with the floor manager in the tile section, we discovered there was a broken carton, so he let me purchase a single tile. Lowe’s is the best!
Since the texture of the tile is so much like an artist’s canvas, I had the idea of painting a couple of pumpkins on the tile in acrylic paints. This was a really simple project. I looked online to find photos that would be a great composition for my little piece of artwork. Then I just looked at some printouts and painted my pumpkins in neutral paint colors. Here it is in process:
And here is the finished work:
The pumpkins are painted, but the ‘fall’ lettering is in chalk. I might want to change my typography for different occasions. For Thanksgiving, I might letter ‘Give Thanks’!
And here’s a pinnable image, if you’d like to pin it! And, by the way, you can follow me on Pinterest HERE!
And now, here are the four blogs that are participating the
