When I returned from our last European trip, I found some happy mail waiting for me! It was a copy of my friend Jamie’s new book, French Vintage Decor. I’ve met Jamie a couple of times at the Haven Conference and I love her blog, So Much Better with Age.

Jamie’s style is so elegant, yet practical and comfortable. When you see her home, you just know that you would feel so welcome there! This is Jamie in her gorgeous kitchen:
And here is her very provincial bedroom. You can almost feel those luscious linens!
Jamie’s style is certainly French, but not at all stuffy. Her book is no exception… she has successfully articulated her easy French style onto the pages of her book. And though the images are amazing, it’s not just a picture book. There are photographs, tutorials and tips for 70 great project ideas! Here are some of my favorites that I plan to do in the near future:
Aged Urn or Planter
This is such a fabulous idea – to take any kind of pot, even resin or plastic, and turn it into a piece that looks old and rustic – simply charming! And this one:
Framed Eiffel Tower Poster
Again, the idea of taking something as ordinary as a poster and turning it into a work of art holds great appeal for me. Really, this project combines 2 of her ideas… including aging a pair of second-hand frames. You could easily do this project either vertically, as shown, or horizontally.
And isn’t this a beautiful way to display lavender? Inspired by a vintage piece, Jamie shares how to easily make your own!
Drill Bit Holder with Dried Lavender
Jamie sent a copy of her book to me for review, but I certainly would have purchased it regardless… it’s a timeless resource for an elegantly styled home. By the time I got the book, it had already topped the Amazon best-seller list! How’s that for an endorsement? Don’t wait to order your copy… and it makes a great holiday gift!
