I really love Thanksgiving. In many ways, I love it even more than Christmas. One reason may be that the emphasis is on gathering with family and loved ones, and gift-giving is not on anyone’s mind.
It is the purest of holidays to me. A time when families can enjoy each other’s company without distraction, a time to be thankful for so much. It’s a time for most mothers, grandmothers and aunts to show love the way many of us do… by preparing favorite dishes for those we love.
Yeah, that sounds very traditional, I’m sure, to some. I’m southern – what can I say?! Many southern homemakers show love by expressing hospitality and by cooking up special menus.
My love language is cooking and preparing for those I love. I truly do enjoy setting a pretty table and preparing cherished family recipes. It is important to me to pass down these traditions to my daughters.
I am thankful for traditions. I am thankful for memories of my grandmother preparing her specialties, as well as my own mother hers. They taught me most of what I know about cooking and keeping a home! I owe them much!!

One way to add a little festivity to any Thanksgiving decor is with a printable that expresses what the season is all about. I hope you will enjoy this ‘Give Thanks’ free printable. It is unique in that, rather than being 8.5 x 11 inches, it is 8.5″ square. It looks lovely in a square shadowbox frame.
Here is how the printable will look when it’s printed (don’t worry – when printed, it won’t have the watermark!).
