What is your favorite fall decoration? There are so many gorgeous colors and textures that I associate with fall, but I’d have to say that one of my faves the past few years has been white pumpkins!
My love affair with white pumpkins began a few years ago. In the fall of 2010, my whole family came to our house the evening before Thanksgiving for an early celebration. It was the first Thanksgiving in our new house, so it was lots of fun planning and executing the decorations! But I waited a bit late to get my white pumpkins and when I went to look for some, there weren’t any left! What to do, what to do?!
Would you believe I bought some orange pumpkins (real ones) in the sizes I needed and painted those suckers? Sure did. Spray painted them the most gorgeous color: Heritage White. And then I took a little stain and rub ‘n buff on a rag and gave them some dimension! Hey, I really wanted white pumpkins!! (OK… they weren’t that white when I got through… more of an off-white… but I LOVED them!}
Well, I still like white pumpkins! Will probably use them again this year, so I want to share a centerpiece that I created for an event we hosted here in our home last season.
The heart of the table was a basket. I just love the shape of it. I took gold mesh ribbon and wove it through the basket and around some candlesticks. Then I layered in the white pumpkins, some grapevine balls and decorative spheres. Tucked in here and there were stems of metallic berries. And these pumpkins are the real thing!! No paint on these babies!
With a brown bow tied to the side of the basket, the centerpiece was complete. Simple elegance, I like to say.
Don’t miss: The post covering the event at which this centerpiece was used… you won’t want to miss it!
Enjoy your day!!
