You know those glass block windows that many builders use in bathrooms? The ones that are supposed to obscure shapes while letting in light?
We have one of those in our master bath. When we bought the house, the builder’s agent alerted us to the fact that, while things might be obscured, these windows don’t allow for total privacy. After dark, when the room is well lit, outsiders can still see shapes and colors. In other words, from the outside looking in, it is apparent when a shape is… A.) a person… and B.) a naked person!
So after we moved in, knowing that I didn’t want to completely cover the window, I decided to try glass frosting spray for more window privacy.
Following the directions on the can, I sprayed the entire window with an even coat. As you can see, it worked perfectly! No need for curtains, our master bath is filled with light and I feel totally secure!

The answer may be obvious, but do you spray the window on the interior or exterior side?
Great idea!
Great question! Apply the spray to the inside of the window.
Great idea! I am going to try this on the side windows by our front door. I have never felt like we had complete privacy. We can’t even answer the front door without being seen! Thanks.
Would the frosted glass spray work on clear glass shower doors? Thanks!
I think so, Carrie! It’s not water-soluble, and especially if you used it on the outside of the doors, it should work. It’s such a simple fix, but very effective!

Can you put UV Resistant Clear on the frost to seal it if you use it for out side windows>
Hey Jean! Thanks for reading! Yes, I’ll bet you could. I sprayed mine from the inside. Not sure how well the frost spray will hold up to the elements, but it might be worth a try!
