I shared this peacock napkin fold in a post last summer on one of my favorite tablescapes. But I love this fold so much that I think it deserves its own post!! Be sure to check out the table I used it on before HERE.
The inspiration for this table and napkin fold actually started with a trip to a local wildlife park called Safari Park. I was amazed at the collection of animals that were there, including several peacocks! This guy was in full form the day we were there, and showed us just about every move he had!
Also inspiring the theme were some peacock plates I found at TJMaxx.
When I was planning my tablescape, I was thinking about what kind of fold I would use for the napkins and I remembered having seen a swan/peacock fold once. So I googled it, modified it, and here is my tutorial:
The Peacock Napkin Fold….
Start with a square napkin and fold in half diagonally. Press. Open back up, flip it over, and begin to accordion fold one side, starting from the center, pressing as you go. Repeat on the other side.
You will have a strip of napkin that looks like this:
Then just kind of twist and bend the strip on one end just above the last pointy fold and stick into goblet. My goblets are kind of deep, so I filled them part way with some of my fake ice!
Then you’ll want to fan out the ‘plumes’ of your peacock! Just play with it until it looks sufficiently ‘show-y’!
Isn’t he fun? You’ll have an instant conversation-starter for your party or luncheon.
