Our breakfast room, or morning room… as the floor plan called it, is open on 2 sides, with one wall consisting of the back (french) door and a double window.
The only available wall is dressed with these rustic ‘found’ doors that I got when I worked as a designer for a high-end furniture retailer. They are fabulous and I absolutely love them! They lend much needed character to a ‘too-new’ home.
Of course, there are all kinds of plans to add character to walls, but right now my little baby grandson comes first! 😉
As you have seen, most of my tablescapes are in the dining room, and are a little dressier than this one, but I loved the red in here and was going for a more relaxed setting. This is the kitchen table that I refinished before we moved into this home, and you can see that transformation here.
As you can see by the title of today’s post, this table setting was inspired by Mr. Red Bird! He finds his way into the decor of most seasons here at Sondra Lyn at Home! And what better place than a holiday tablescape?!
The salad plates are a find from wait for it… Wal-Mart! These are the Better Homes and Gardens Christmas plates in the Cardinal and Barn patterns! And the round placemats are so practical for any table! It is so easy to add one or two places, since they are round! They are topped by gold chargers and a white dinner plate… a perfect foil for the lovely salad plate!
The look is completed with a centerpiece arranged on a pallet sign. The lantern and candles provide additional warmth, and the greenery and pinecones add to the woodsy feel. Mismatched flatwear is tucked inside neutral napkins. I’m loving the pine cone wreaths on the doors hung from simple swaths of ribbon!
I hope you have a blessed holiday season, and are given many opportunities to be with ones you love!
Merry Christmas!!
