Bonjour y’all! Are you excited about Spring?
I am in a Parisiènne state of mind! Ever since high school, the French language and culture has captivated me. I took French through my junior year of college, and while not fluent by any means, I can still read and comprehend fairly well.
And since this is also Paris Fashion Week, I decided to pay homage to all things French! Yesterday I shared with you my découpage French Script Eggs, and today I bring my Paris-inspired Spring Mantel!
As I showed you in this post, this mantel decor began with a piece in the center of the wall above the mantel. Actually, TWO pieces this time! I hadn’t planned to use my fabulous window again for this one, but when I hung my Eiffel Tower canvas, I couldn’t resist propping it in front to get the effect of a view of the tower from the window!
Again, for a pleasing and attractive mantel layering is the key. Just as we dress in layers and accessorize with jewelry and scarves, so we should do in decorating!
I added another couple of canvases… the Parisian street scene and the ‘subway’ art canvas, turned on its side for whimsy. Added in is some greenery and fresh tulips! Don’t you love that touch of pink mixed in with the white tulips? And you know how I love spheres and white books! Can’t have too many!! Finish with a few votives and there you have it.
The crowning touch is our little ‘grandpuppy’, Ellie… n’est-ce pas? Doesn’t she look so prissy perched up on the french chair?? (OK, she’s English, but who’s gonna be that picky?!) 😉
If you use Pinterest, don’t forget to pin this picture, so you can refer to this post when you’re ready to create!
Another reason that I am so happy with this mantel is that, except for the fresh tulips, I used things I already had! I challenged myself to pull from the accessories around the house, and this is the result!
Enjoy decorating your Spring Mantel!
