Welcome to Day 2 of the Home for the Holidays Blog Tour
brought to you by Sondra Lyn at Home!
Today’s focus is Trees and Decor. And really… what would Christmas decorating be without the trees?
Whether you put up one tree or 10, chances are your Christmas Day celebration centers around your tree. Not spiritually, of course, because we know the true meaning of Christmas is much more than tinsel and presents. But when it comes to our decor, the tree is central to the theme!
I like to put up a couple of large trees, and a few smaller ones. Hey, sometimes they don’t all get done, but it’s fun to bring a little Christmas into other areas of the house. Our main tree is in the family room, and is the one we gather around on Christmas Day.
Of course, it’s the one that we enjoy decorating with those nostalgic ornaments that have been in the family for many years! (Yes, Hallmark was selling ornaments even then!)
Here are a few that hold great memories for us:
These angels were given to me by my closest friend way back when I was expecting our first baby. Not knowing whether the baby was a boy or a girl, she gave me one of each: a pink and a blue angel!!
And this ornament is one of a boxed set that was gifted to us at one of our bridal showers (we married in December)!
Santa approves of the family tree!
Then we have the tree in our foyer that I call the ‘Fall Tree’ because I usually have this one up before Thanksgiving and it is decorated in fall colors. It is also my ‘designer’ tree that I can dress up all pretty-like. I’ve always wanted to do a tree that you might see in a store window, so when we moved to this house, here was my chance!
And here’s a fun little tree that is in our kitchen, on the bar. It celebrates all things sweet about the holidays! Kids really love this one! Even us ‘big kids’. *wink* The tree skirt is a dish towel!
Of course, trees come in all forms. Here’s a really pretty Christmas Tree knock-off and how I made them!
I truly hope you are enjoying the Home for the Holidays Tour! Be sure to come back tomorrow for the third day, which will be holiday crafts! Scroll on down for all the links in the Blog Tour.
Happy December!!

Sondra Lyn, I love all your trees. Family trees are the best; I always enjoy going back through the memories of ours. Of course, I also love your designer tree — it definitely looks like something out of a store. And your kitchen tree is so cute!
Everything is so beautiful! I love that you have more than one tree-I love doing themed trees too! Thank you for hosting the tour!
I love the Christmas trees! 🙂
I love all of your trees! Everyone that visits must really enjoy looking and looking at all of your pretty detail. Family ornaments are my favorite and getting them out of their wrapping and reminiscing is my favorite part of tree decorating. Thanks for hosting the tour!
Thanks so much for organizing this tour and I enjoyed seeing your decorations. Those sweet angels made by your friend are precious! I have always wanted a gingerbread tree in our kitchen but I don’t have room for one. So this year I created a gingerbread wreath!
Your trees are spectacular! Don’t you love the glow of a Christmas tree? There is nothing like a family tree… so full of memories. Your tree is beautiful! When Bobby and I put up our first tree without our children we unwrapped the first ornament and it was my son’s 1st Christmas. We both sat down and cried like babies!!! Yes, family trees are very special! Thanks you so very much for taking the time to set up and put together our wonderful tour! You have been so organized and that makes it easy on us! You are a very special girl!!!
Sondra, I love all of your trees! I set up 2 trees so I can have my designer tree. One is my “pretty” tree and the other we call the “love” tree. The love tree has all the kids ornaments and all the handmade ones too. Thanks for sharing your pretty trees!
Sondra Lyn.

What beautiful trees! Of course I am just lovin those glass beaded trees…yes I am all about the bling 😉 Thanks so much for all of your hard work and for hosting!
All of your trees are so lovely, Sondra Lyn! I would love to put up multiple trees, to have a family tree and a “designer” tree. But for now we just have our family tree, but I love it so because it is chock full of great memories! Thank you for sharing, and thank you for coordinating this fun Blog Tour!
