It’s so easy to add a touch of class to any area of your home with fresh flowers and greenery. Over the holidays, it was my pleasure to host a luncheon (I admit – I’ve been watching Downton Abbey!) for the ladies in my Bible Study class. It was such fun to have them in my home for a yummy holiday lunch! I was able to share with them my Merry and Toile Tablescape, as well.
One simple way to add interest and beauty to any table is to add flowers! I added these to the tea-pot from my mother’s silver tea service:
To keep the water and resin (from the cut greenery) from damaging the pot, I simply placed a glass tumbler inside the pot and filled it with water! This worked great in keeping any kind of corrosion or chemical reaction from damaging the inside of the silver tea-pot. And it lasted for days!!
In addition, I placed a lovely arrangement on the mantel to enjoy. The folks at ProFlowers were kind enough to send a lovely holiday bouquet for me to enjoy and share with my guests!
Before I talk more about the holiday flowers, let me recap some of the settings which have benefited from live cuttings: Last summer, I used several daisies to help draw the eye down from the wreath above the mantel. I simply placed dollar store vases in a planter, added water and the flowers and voila – the mantel came together! The flowers on the wreath are artificial, but the ones below are the real thing. Don’t be afraid to mix real and faux in the same vignette!
For this summer buffet, fresh hydrangea were just the ticket!
For our spring mantel one year, these pink tulips caught my eye… I LOVE tulips, don’t you? To me, even the stems of a bunch of tulips are a beautiful thing! Who says you can’t use flowers on the mantel, right?
Which brings me back to the lovely ‘Merry and Bright’ floral arrangement from ProFlowers. I put it on the mantel too! They also sent the little plaid fabric ‘cozy’ to dress up the plain glass vase the flowers came with. How cool is that? ProFlowers has so many styles to choose from, at any time of the year! Be sure to check out the website for more luscious flowers arrangements!
I received a complimentary arrangement in exchange for my honest review. No other compensation was made and all opinions are my own.
How often do you use fresh flowers in your home? Have you ever used them on your mantel? Let me know what your favorite flower is!
Happy Winter!
